Blog Entry: Week Two

          The considered video is focused on a little boy playing in his imaginative world. He’s dressed in a Darth Vader character and is roaming around the house trying to impose his superpowers and becomes frustrated because nothing seems to be working. The Darth Vader costume is a symbolic character today in America, even though it heralds from 30 years ago, it is a part of the popular show Star Wars and has been passed down for many generations. In today’s culture, it is known that the young adolescence, imitates today’s television, and it’s represented in the video has he tries to use the Darth Vader powers. The video also shows the relationship between the child and his mother and the relationship between the child and his father. The mother doesn’t seem to be too interested in the child’s game showing the mother to play a non-imaginative role. When the father arrives he gives into the boy and makes his car light up playing into the game, showing a form of play in the father; son relationship. The video is a symbolic piece of the family interaction in the 21^st century. Family time becomes limited and children are off playing alone. For just the two second interaction with the son and the boy to be such a significant moment in the video, shows that the family interaction should be stronger today.  (235)
